Job summary

RESA Power, LLC is seeking an entry-level Field Tech in Alberta, Canada to gain hands-on experience in power transmission and distribution. You will inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low, medium, and high voltage equipment with comprehensive training provided.

Responsibilities include data collection, testing of switchgear and transformers, and ensuring safety compliance. Travel may be involved in servicing clients across regions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• No prior field experience required; training provided.
• Familiarity with NETA, NEC, NFPA preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of electricity and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work safely and follow electrical safety procedures.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Strong computer skills and use of the internet for research.
• Valid driver’s license if vehicle use is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on LV/MV/HV electrical systems (up to 500kV).
• Perform testing and maintenance on switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Inspect, maintain, test, and repair transformers and related equipment.
• Maintain and repair circuit breakers (low to MV up to 15kV).
• Work with SF6-filled equipment and gas-insulated switchgear.
• Test and inspect LV/MV cable installations.
• Operate high voltage test equipment (e.g., Doble Power Factor sets).
• Start-up, troubleshoot and repair controls and transfer schemes.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
