Job summary

Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Canada is seeking a Costume Wardrobe Assistant to support our theatre wardrobe team. You will help build, repair, and maintain costumes to ensure guests have magical experiences.

Responsibilities include operating sewing machines and related equipment, sewing fabrics including knits, and performing backstage duties. Flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in theatrical wardrobe, costuming or fashion.
• Ability to operate industrial and domestic costuming equipment.
• Skilled in sewing fabrics including knits; proficient in hand sewing.
• Good knowledge of fabrics and fabric care.
• Able to work flexible shifts: evenings, weekends and holidays.

Overview

$23.15 / hour

This is a vacant unionized position. Employment will be governed pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between the Company and IATSE. In the event of any conflict between this Offer of Employment and the collective bargaining agreement, the collective bargaining agreement will govern.

You'll also…

• Assist with the build and maintenance of costumes, worn props, masks, prosthetics, and fabric décor pieces as assigned
• Perform daily cleaning, repairs, and maintenance of all assigned costumes
• Maintain at all times a positive rapport with all guests and employees in the Park
• Ensure that all safety standards and practices are met
• Abide by all Canada's Wonderland policies and procedures as set out by the park and the Entertainment Department
• Perform all duties as assigned by Department Management. Daily duties will include but, not be limited to the cleaning of the break room, associated backstage areas, clean-up rehearsals, meetings and "notes" sessions

• Applicants that are currently enrolled in or a graduate of a post-secondary program that includes a specialty in theatrical wardrobe, costuming or fashion
• Individuals that are able to operate industrial and domestic costuming and wardrobe equipment, such as; sewing machines, sergers, irons, steamers, laundry and maintenance equipment
• Applicants that have the ability to sew a variety of fabrics including knits as well as, being proficient in hand sewing
• Good working knowledge of adhesives will assist in character costume maintenance
• Candidates with knowledge and understanding of fabrics and fabric care
• Applicants that are available to work flexible shifts including evenings, on weekends, and holidays
