Job description

We’re looking for an Enterprise Payroll Manager to join our Group Finance team.

In this role, you will oversee GHD’s payroll function to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing of all regular and off-cycle payments for approximately 12,000 GHD employees. Your focus will be on implementing best practices, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvements in payroll systems and processes.

The role can be based in any GHD office across Canada (west coast preferred), Australia, or New Zealand. GHD supports a hybrid work model.

In this diverse role, you will:

• Develop and lead a geographically dispersed payroll team across the enterprise.
• Mentor and empower team members to provide solutions, customer service, and advice.
• Lead and optimize end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accurate pay calculations and compliance with policies, legislation, and reporting obligations.
• Review payroll processes and integrations, identify trends and discrepancies, and recommend improvements.
• Partner with People, IS, and Finance teams to ensure seamless data integration and system issue resolution.
• Provide expertise for payroll BAU services and improvement projects.
• Develop internal controls to minimize payroll-related risks.
• Conduct payroll audits to ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Assess impacts of proposed changes, measure benefits, and monitor updates.
• Maintain open knowledge sharing across the enterprise.
• Support team workflow and projects, manage workload, and recruit as needed.

What would you bring to the team?

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a Payroll Administration certification with APA or TAPS membership.
• Proven experience managing payroll in a large, dispersed organization.
• Extensive experience with payroll/HRIS systems like ADP Globalview, SAP, or Oracle.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, especially with non-technical stakeholders and senior leaders.
• Experience in project management, process improvement, and data-driven documentation.
