City of Courtenay seeks an Engineering Technologist to manage multiple capital projects, coordinate with external consultants, and monitor budgets. You will review drawings, visit sites, and assist with public inquiries and stakeholder engagement.
The role requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, BC driver license, and eligibility for AScT, with 3–5 years of municipal engineering experience and strong MS Office/AutoCAD skills.
The City of Courtenay invites applications for a position of 'Engineering Technologist” in the Capital Projects Division of the Infrastructure and Environmental Engineering Services Department. This is a union position subject to the terms and conditions in the collective agreement between the City and CUPE Local 556.
The Engineering Technologist, working with the Manager of Capital Projects, provides project management services on multiple projects simultaneously and at various stages of the project management process. This involves directing and supporting projects’ external service providers; tracking and monitoring project budgets; reviewing and critiquing drawings and reports; and attending construction sites during the construction of projects. The Technologist also assists with public inquiries, stakeholder engagement and bylaw development., which may involve reviewing existing City policies and investigating potential solutions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The current hourly wage rate is $44.45 based on a 35-hour work week (Schedule “A”).
