Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking an Engineering/Technical Student for a four-month assignment starting January 2027.

You will gain hands-on experience on real projects, with mentorship and access to construction industry learning opportunities. The role offers weekly pay, exposure to site activities, deficiency walks, drawing coordination, and progression tracking as part of the Operations team.

Qualifications

• Passion for working in a construction environment.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and drafting software.
• Self-motivated with a hands-on approach.
• Prior field construction experience is an asset.
• Working toward a civil engineering degree or diploma.
• Eligible for Government of Canada security clearance (Reliability Status).

Responsibilities

• Conducts deficiency walks.
• Coordinates and supervises sub-trade work.

Join us as aEngineering/Technical Studentfor our Ottawadistrict, within our Canadian Buildings sectorfor 4 months starting January 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a Engineering/Technical Student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Responsibilities

• Conducts deficiency walks.


• Coordinates and supervises sub‑trade work.


• Takes and coordinates progress photos.


• Tracks site progress and deficiencies.


• Verifies site conditions and coordinates with drawings.


• Coordinates, marks up and updates drawings.


• Coordinates work specific scope and trades.


• Conducts trade quote reviews by verifying material quantities, hours, and rates.


• Inputs and updates deficiency logs.


• Participates in project meetings.


• Performs quantity take‑offs.


• Produces as‑built drawings.


• Sets‑up and maintains record keeping.

Qualifications

• A passion for working in a construction environment.


• Experience with the application of various computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.


• Self‑motivation with a hands‑on approach.


• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.


• Working towards a degree or diploma in a civil engineering related field


• Eligible to obtain and maintain, a Government of Canada security clearance at the Reliability Status leve
