Engineering Specialist, Aircraft Performance – CANADA

Note : This position opening is in Canada and will initially be fully remote.

We are on a journey to make air travel more sustainable and accessible, and we're looking for an Aircraft Performance Principal Engineer to lead our efforts in this exciting and challenging endeavor.

Job Summary :

The Aircraft Performance Engineering Specialist will be responsible for evaluating and predicting aircraft performance for the EOS aircraft. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to the Flight Science performance team to establish reliable predictions for overall aircraft performance. The candidate will work closely with propulsion performance, stability & control, and aerodynamics teams to develop aircraft characteristics through the conceptual design phase and progress the aircraft maturity and verification correlation throughout the program phases.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Technical : Support the aircraft performance team in developing and analyzing aerodynamic designs and performance metrics.
  • Tool Development & Standardization : Develop performance prediction methods and correlations for aircraft and propulsion systems, including innovations for the novel aircraft features.
  • Team Collaboration : Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Standards and Processes : Uphold engineering standards, contribute to design reviews, certification efforts, and ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Engage with teams across the organization to integrate flight sciences into the overall aircraft design and manufacturing process, providing performance metrics and status updates.

Qualifications :

  • Experience : 5-8 years in aerospace, with leadership in aircraft design, development, and certification, especially for EASA / FAA Part 25 aircraft.
  • Analysis Skills : Experience analyzing CFD, wind tunnel, and flight test data to develop performance models.
  • Coordination : Ability to collaborate with avionics, landing gear, and propulsion teams to integrate performance solutions.
  • Coding Skills : Experience developing aircraft performance codes and modules.
  • Expertise : Deep knowledge in flight sciences, aircraft and propulsion performance, with experience in regional aircraft design; FAA / EASA Part 21 experience is a plus.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels and stakeholders.
  • Education : Advanced degree in aerospace or related fields, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with aerospace OEMs or startups in electric aircraft development is highly valued.
  • Passion for innovation and sustainable aviation solutions.
