Job summary

Linamar Corporation is seeking an Engineering Manager in Canada to lead Engineering teams, manage projects, budgets, and resources while aligning with organizational goals and fostering team development.

The role requires overseeing engineering strategies, client interactions, quotations, and technical presentations; ensuring on-time, on-budget project delivery; and mentoring staff to drive continuous improvement through new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent.
  • Licensing by a provincial/territorial association of Professional Engineers (P.Eng.) is required to approve engineering drawings/reports and practice as a Professional Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with company goals, vision and core values.
  • Balance customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department KPIs.
  • Act as the main customer liaison to ensure inquiries and requirements are met, prepare quotations, and cost estimations.
  • Prepare technical presentations for customers and Executive Management.
  • Oversee planning, execution and delivery of Engineering projects on time and within budget and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Allocate resources including budgeting, staffing and capital purchases of equipment.
  • Lead and mentor the Engineering team, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership for problem solving and continuous improvement, and provide technical leadership and support as needed.
  • Set goals, evaluate performance and develop opportunities for team members.
  • Identify and implement process improvements/new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with Engineering projects.

Responsibility


  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with company goals, vision, and core values

  • Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.

  • Act as the main customer liaison to ensure their inquiries and requirements are met, prepare quotations, and cost estimations

  • Prepare technical presentations for customers and Executive Management.

  • Oversee the planning, execution and delivery of Engineering projects on time and within budget and ensure all Engineering activities comply with laws, regulations, standards, and internal procedures

Academic/Educational Requirements


  • A bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent.

  • Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of Professional Engineers is required to approve engineering drawings andreports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).


Required Skills/Experience


  • 7-10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • Proven record of successful program launches.

  • Advanced understanding of GD&T, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, process flow, control plans, ECNs, etc.

  • In-depth knowledge of machining, manufacturing processes, process development and automation/advanced technology.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data.

  • Team oriented with good ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Good understanding of Financial Accounting.

  • Solidworks/AutoCAD.
