Contract Technical Lead & Engineering Manager – Digital Health

Location: Remote (with periodic travel to Abu Dhabi)

Type: Contract (6-month initial term, through November 2025)

Are you a hands-on technical leader with a passion for delivering impactful digital health solutions? We're seeking a hybrid Technical Lead and Engineering Manager to guide the delivery of three mission-critical healthcare products for clients from the health and wellness fields in Abu Dhabi.

You’ll lead infrastructure planning, navigate regulatory complexity, and build and manage a lean engineering team—all while working on products that will directly impact clinical workflows and patient outcomes.

What You’ll Do

Phase 1: Strategic Planning

• Lead technical discovery for core products
• Define backend architecture, hosting, infrastructure, and data flows
• Advise on EMR integration strategy and regional compliance standards
• Make “Build, Buy, Borrow” decisions across technical components
• Deliver architecture plans, risk assessments, and hiring roadmaps

Phase 2: Execution & Delivery

• Assemble and manage a lean, high-performance engineering team
• Own backend development, technical trade-offs, and sprint velocity
• Ensure compliance with UAE data privacy, security, and cloud requirements
• Collaborate with product and design teams to meet an ambitious November launch
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in technical leadership
• Hands-on backend and infrastructure expertise in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Background in healthcare or regulated industries, with exposure to EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and standards like FHIR/HL7
• Strong understanding of secure data handling, residency, and regional compliance (UAE/GDPR-like)
• Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bonus: Familiarity with UAE or GCC healthcare ecosystems and data laws
