You will provide technical coaching, coordinate with operations and suppliers, and drive product development from concept through to completion while maintaining timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent mechanical engineering experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in R&D design.
• Experience leading and developing a high-performance team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Execute product design projects fulfilling both project leader and product design roles.
• Provide technical coaching (planning & execution, problem solving, mechanical design analysis, test plan design, results analysis) to direct reports.
• Identify and deliver product design support and solutions targeted at business growth and operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost in the manufacture of window and door products.
• Create positive momentum on teams and deliver results (projects, tasks, people development).
• Establish and nurture an environment conducive to high morale, satisfaction, and performance.
• Solve practical problems with limited standardization and data.
• Manage projects with detailed coaching on timelines and success criteria.
• Coordinate and manage enterprise RD&I initiatives; support cross-functional initiatives.

This role is based in Strathroy, Ontario and provides design ownership of and support to products in existing production across multiple Business Growth Teams.The Lead/Supervisor will execute complex product development projects with little supervision in addition to providing technical direction and direct supervision to the team. The Lead/Supervisor will not only have a strong relationship with and work closely with operations, but will also collaborate with senior and peer managers, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, marketing, finance, sales, service, packaging engineering, materials engineering, legal, and code and regulatory.
