We are seeking an Engineering Lead to join our Turnaround (TA) core team in Fort McMurray. In this role, you will play a critical part in the success of TA events, working closely with Production Units, project managers, planning, and execution teams. Your responsibility will be to ensure all technical activities align with the Turnaround Basis Memorandum (TABM) and are delivered efficiently and safely.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in mechanical or process engineering
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, supporting production units
  • 3+ years of experience as a Turnaround Technical Lead
  • Familiarity with Pre-Start-Up Safety Review (PSSR) processes (asset)
  • Strong skills in risk assessment, critical thinking, and managing complex technical scopes
  • Ability to remain flexible amid changing priorities and scopes
  • Proven efficiency in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Key Accountabilities:
Scope Development (T-28 to T-18 Months):
  • Analyze past lessons learned
  • Lead scope development ensuring compliance with RBWS and TABM
  • Facilitate reviews and third-party RBSR sessions
  • Generate and present worklist sign-off packages
  • Coordinate engineering priorities with PU-TA alignment
Pre-TA Planning:
  • Serve as SPOC for technical queries
  • Challenge scope based on RBWS during reviews
  • Manage scope changes and offsets
  • Prioritize engineering deliverables and maintain milestones
Scope Optimization:
  • Lead scope reduction discussions based on RBWS and risk
  • Provide recommendations with impact quantification
Execution Window:
  • Support TA manager as SPOC for technical matters
  • Assemble and onboard TA engineering team
  • Review repair requests and manage scope changes
  • Assess critical repairs and facilitate decisions
Event Close-Out (T+6):
  • Compile technical reports
  • Lead close-out activities, lessons learned, and future scope collection
Location & Other Details:
  • Work locations: Syncrude Mildred Lake, Aurora, or Suncor Base Plant, Fort McMurray
  • Work hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with potential extended hours
  • Relocation to within 60 km of Fort McMurray required if residing outside
  • This position is safety sensitive
