Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled permanent, full-time Engineering Design Technician II who can use AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D to complete municipal design and drafting projects. Your work will cover roads, sidewalks, water and drainage infrastructure within a collaborative team.

The successful candidate will hold a two-year CAD/Drafting or Civil Engineering diploma, have at least three years of municipal design experience, be registered as an AScT with ASTTBC, and possess a

• Completion of a two-year CAD/Drafting program or a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum three years' municipal design experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Registered as a Civil Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Complete complex municipal design and drafting projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Focus on roads/sidewalks, water/sanitation mains and storm drainage.

Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is looking for a highly skilledpermanent, full-time Engineering Design Technician IIwho is proficient in using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software to complete complex municipal design and drafting projects. Your projects will revolve around municipal designs such as roads/sidewalks, water/sanitation mains and storm drainage. • Completion of a two-year Computer Aided Design and Drafting program OR a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum three (3) years' previous experience in municipal design using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software.
• Registered as a Civil Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC).
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 900; check out ourCollective Agreement (2024 - 2025) for full details (ratified 2026 Collective Agreement coming soon). As this is a unionized position, all qualifications must be met in order to be shortlisted for the position.

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (summer)
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (winter)
With the ability to apply for a modified schedule allowing for one day off every third week.
