Position Summary

The Engineering Compliance role is responsible for ensuring equipment designed by engineering teams are compliant to global engineering standards utilized by our customers. The mission is to continually review global standards such as ATEX, CE, North American Explosion Proof standards, UKCA, etc., to ensure the equipment we engineer meets or exceeds current standards. Auditing and teaching application of these standards is a key focus of this role.

Essential Functions

  • Research and stay up to date with Global engineering standards that directly affect our customers and our equipment.
  • Understand the standards and which areas directly affect our equipment, work with Engineering and Sales leaders to ensure standards are accounted for and understood.
  • Document Engineering compliance as it pertains to our equipment ensuring documentation and processes are created with business continuity in mind.
  • Own ATEX Certification process from working with outside Notified Bodies to conducting internal Audits to ensure compliance.
  • Assist our customers with Compliance related questions or issues as it pertains to our equipment.
  • Work with Engineering to assist and conduct Compliance reviews on key projects as required.
  • Work with sales during the quotation stage to assist in URS reviews ensuring our quoted offering matches what we can supply.
  • Create and conduct internal Compliance training.
  • Assist other departments and Corporate with compliance related issues (i.e. PFAS).
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated skills in one of the following fields of engineering: mechanical design, electrical engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to review complex engineering standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management.
  • Manufacturing experience including machining, welding, fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Expert ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, vendors, and customers to train or resolve technical issues.

EDUCATION

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is required.
  • P.Eng certification is an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of related mechanical/electrical engineering experience in a job-shop type environment.
