As the Engineering Business Strategist, you will help the Leader, Infrastructure and Systems Performance to plan and drive the objectives of the Calgary Transit (CT) Service Systems Division and Calgary Transit as a whole. This position involves aiding with day-to-day management activities, coordinating initiatives, and business planning. Primary duties include:

• Synthesize and develop detailed longer-term engineering strategies (including quality control and reliability and innovation initiatives) in response to strategic direction from the Leader, Infrastructure and Systems Performance, audit findings, Envirosystem, customer feedback, Senior Management Team (SMT), RouteAhead, and the CT Customer Advisory Group.
• Help prepare the Divisional business plan, including workforce planning, overtime management, and reports pertaining to capital and operating budgets.
• Offer leadership and support on behalf of the Leader, Infrastructure and Systems Performance for various Divisional projects and provide strategic reports for senior management on Divisional initiatives.
• Research best industry practices for current activities, new initiatives, and engineering/maintenance practices and technologies.
• Communicate regularly to Divisional staff regarding initiatives on behalf of the Leader, Infrastructure and Systems Performance.
• Write, edit, review, and track all reports going to Committees and Council.
• Work with the Leader, Infrastructure and Systems Performance to coordinate Divisional participation in corporate initiatives and reporting.

Qualifications

• A related Engineering degree at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation, and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
• The following will be considered assets:
• Experience developing business plans and writing reports.
• Proven ability to effectively use available technologies to create impactful solutions.
• Strong knowledge and application of C# and Python for data manipulation, analysis, and application of Azure.
• Skilled in developing and implementing solutions using MS Suite such as SharePoint, Power Automate and Power Apps.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing data strategies to support system frameworks.
• Success in this position requires strong communication and project management skills; and the ability to understand key performance indicators, quality control principles, and statistics.
