Job description

The Engineer - Plant position will be responsible for overseeing engineering projects from project initiation through testing and into production. The role involves planning, coordinating, and directing new projects or processes to ensure compliance with organizational standards, procedures, and work processes.

Performance Expectations

  1. Specify and select special tools and fixtures as required.
  2. Determine appropriate measuring tools and methods.
  3. Communicate with customers (when required) and suppliers.
  4. Participate in customer focus teams, APQP activities, and coordinate with other departments.
  5. Estimate cycle times and costs for each operation.
  6. Set production targets and goals.
  7. Assist in preparing quotations.
  8. Establish suitable materials and equipment, and determine applicable codes and standards.
  9. Ensure process capability to meet specifications.
  10. Investigate processing issues and develop solutions for assigned projects and parts.
  11. Maintain process control through quality troubleshooting and improvements.
  12. Update process documentation as needed.
  13. Manage customer drawings and revisions.
  14. Keep records and communicate with other departments.
  15. Prepare project SRED.
  16. Maintain and optimize line layouts.
  17. Monitor production line performance and OEE data.

Credentials

  1. Post-secondary degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  2. At least three years of machine shop experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
  3. Knowledge of CNC machining, spline rolling, heat treatment, GDT, and blueprint reading.
  4. Understanding of SPC, process and machine capability, and lot control techniques.
  5. Familiarity with LPS, TS 16949, and related procedures.
  6. Experience with statistical analysis software, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  7. Training in APQP, SPC, FMEA, MSA, PPAP is preferred.
