Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing capital projects across the site. This includes equipment selection, preparing requests for proposals, and developing the validation master plan. The role involves mentoring and guiding maintenance supervisors and other engineers as a key member of the engineering team.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Mentor and advise project engineers and maintenance supervisors.
  2. Manage projects and assignments from inception to completion.
  3. Design engineering solutions to select appropriate equipment technology.
  4. Evaluate economic options, develop project schedules, and prepare impact summaries including cost-benefit analyses.
  5. Prepare detailed project requests, procurement specifications, and vendor contracts.
  6. Perform technical analyses of utilities as required.
  7. Assess process control, monitoring, and data acquisition needs for manufacturing.
  8. Support production parameters such as heat and mass transfer, and mixing characteristics.
  9. Coordinate vendor inspections, supervise installation, and oversee commissioning.
  10. Conduct HAZOP studies with R&D and Process groups, ensuring safety and compliance.
  11. Support deviation investigations and lead deviations when necessary.
  12. Prepare and route change control documents to support qualifications.
  13. Provide inputs for IQ/OQ/PQ of new equipment and facilities.
  14. Ensure project deadlines are met and keep management informed of progress.
  15. Maintain ongoing professional development through literature review.
  16. Conform to cGMP principles and all relevant SOPs and policies.
  17. Support departmental employees' development and ensure a safe working environment.
  18. Demonstrate organizational values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion.
  19. Adhere to all compliance, safety, and environmental policies.
Job Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with GMP, FDA, HPB, ISO standards, and validation protocols; working knowledge of DeltaV distributed control systems.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in the pharmaceutical industry.
