Job Title: Project Engineer
Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer will review, analyze, manage, and resolve field coordination issues with project team members. You will work with the Project Manager to oversee the engineering and construction of a project through closeout while interfacing with subcontractors, vendors, and clients. This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.
This position is 100% travel and offers per diem while working on our project sites. Site locations include, but are not limited to: North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc.

Responsibilities:
- Manage testing and inspection processes for the construction quality management program.
- Implement the pre-construction quality plan.
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft workforce personnel.
- Obtain and maintain all necessary construction permits and work with the Project Manager for payments or recurring permit expenses.
- Develop and maintain the material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
- Manage, create, and distribute contract documents.
- Establish handling procedures for electronic documents, including Request for Information (RFI) and correspondence.
- Incorporate all processes and procedures that support the project closeout phase.
- Implement a three-phase inspection system.
- Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and any off-site testing procedures.
- Notify the Project Manager and Superintendent promptly of test results or inspection items that do not conform to contract requirements.
- Manage submittals - set up registers by project specifications and obtain the Owner's approval.
- Prepare project-specific transmittal forms in ProCore.
- Coordinate packaging, review, and processing of submittals.
- Expedite submittals to ensure material deliveries are in sync with the project schedule.
- Communicate details and requirements for the submittal process to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Issue submittal requirement letters outlining packaging and processing requirements.
- Coordinate details of various subcontractors, including verifying insurance, preparing paperwork, and requesting final payment from Finance.
- Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders.
- Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
- Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation in procedures for revising/updating contract documents.
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in construction.
- Strong attention to detail, sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore project, and relevant web applications at an intermediate level.
- Ability to interpret and communicate BRP policies.
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback.
- Ability to multitask, with a strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of project scheduling concepts and tools such as MS-Project, Primavera P6, or related industry scheduling software.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- 100% travel, project-based assignment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to travel extensively to various locations.
- Compliance with all safety standards, including OSHA.
- Work outdoors in various climates; ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
