Job summary

Musselwhite Mine, part of Equinox Gold, is seeking an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to support ventilation, RMX, and mine planning. You will work under senior engineers, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to safe, efficient operations.

The role offers exposure to modern mining techniques, collaboration across departments, and a path toward professional growth in a high‑quality underground gold mine located in Northwestern Ontario.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 0–1 year of underground mining experience (co-op/internship valued).
• Familiarity with Deswik.CAD/Deswik.MDM and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Strong interpersonal and cross‑department collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient mining.
• Support ventilation surveys and airflow measurements for regulatory and operational standards.
• Assist with design, monitoring, and optimization of ventilation systems.
• Participate in ground control inspections and geotechnical monitoring programs.
• Assist interpretation of ground conditions and development of ground support designs.
• Develop stope and development drills in Deswik.CAD per internal standards.
• Produce daily blast packages, gas clearance layouts, and drilling instructions.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation, reports, and drawings.
• Follow safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Purpose:

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to join our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple departments, including Ventilation, RMX, and Mine Planning. Reporting to the department senior engineers, the EIT will support the delivery of high-quality engineering designs and daily operational deliverables. The EIT will work closely with operations, technical services, and other key teams to support safe, efficient, and optimized production.

Responsibilities include:

• Work collaboratively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices.
• Support the completion of ventilation surveys and airflow measurements to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
• Assist with the design, monitoring, and optimization of the mine's ventilation systems.
• Participate in ground control inspections, data collection, and geotechnical monitoring programs.
• Assist in the interpretation of ground conditions and in the development of ground support designs.
• Develop stope and development drill-and-blast designs in Deswik.CAD, adhering to internal engineering standards and industry best practices.
• Produce short-term deliverables including daily blast packages, gas clearance layouts, and drilling instructions.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation, reports, and drawings.
• Comply with all safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline; strong academic performance is a significant asset.
• 0-1 year of relevant experience in an underground mining environment (co-op or internship experience considered an asset).
• Familiarity with Deswik.CAD and Deswik.MDM, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:

• The work schedule for this position is 14 on,14 days off including travel to site, working 12-hour days.

Compensation:

• The salary for this position is $98,000 to $105,000 per year, depending on skills, experience.
• This role is eligible to participate in the Company's annual short term incentive The target annual bonus for this position is 10% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.
• The Company offers a Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP), including an automatic 5% employer contribution, with the option for employees to receive up to an additional 4% employer match on employee.
