Job Description

As an Engineer, you will design and plan processes, tools, and equipment needed for high-quality, efficient planning, construction, repair, testing/commissioning, and delivery of ships. You will apply practical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

You will work independently with general supervision and may influence others within your job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices. The role involves working within theoretical, practical, and lean engineering disciplines in a shipbuilding environment.

Responsibilities

• Originate, under the supervision of a licensed P.Eng, deliverables in an assigned job scope area.
• Review Detail Design information using the 3D model, 2D drawings, and Production bill of materials.
• Review and resolve engineering defects related to the ship's design.
• Identify risks within their job scope or the broader Engineering Discipline.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within their job scope and the broader Engineering discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) or equivalent.
• Understanding of applicable standards with guidance.
• General awareness of shipyard disciplines (hull structure, ship arrangements, piping systems, propulsion, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, producibility, manufacturing).
• Some exposure to or interest in marine field through work experience or academic study.
• Ability to read blueprints, navigate within a 3D model, and develop or markup drawings.
• Technical investigation and data analysis under supervision.
• Analytical problem solving and developing presentations and reports.
