Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Developer for an Energy Market Data Platform Modernization in Calgary, Alberta. You will independently design and build a business application using React and Node.js, developing interfaces for end-user and admin tasks, and translating business concepts into functional UI experiences.

The role includes building API integrations, REST APIs, and data interfaces, with backend support using C#/.NET and SQL Server/Azure SQL.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on React development experience.
• Ability to independently build a business application/interface.
• Strong Node.js experience.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and application integrations.
• Strong understanding of how frontend applications connect with API/interface and database layers.
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
• Strong application development fundamentals.
• Ability to work from high-level concepts and evolving requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-facing skills.
• Comfortable speaking directly with end users to understand their needs and help shape application functionality.
• Self-starter who can operate effectively without highly detailed specifications or wireframes.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and build an internal business application using React and Node.js.
• Develop interfaces supporting end-user functionality and application administration/support.
• Work from business concepts and requirements rather than relying on fully developed wireframes or detailed UI specifications.
• Partner closely with the Business Analyst and business users to determine how workflows and functionality should operate.
• Help translate business processes into intuitive application functionality and user experiences.
• Provide input into UI/process design and recommend effective approaches based on previous application development experience.
• Build functionality iteratively, with the goal of establishing an initial interface quickly and continuing to enhance it through regular releases.
• Build and support the integration/interface layer between the application, databases and external/internal services.
• Develop and consume REST APIs and other application interfaces.
• Work with JSON, XML and other data integration formats.
• Ensure clean separation between the UI, interface/API and underlying application/data layers.
• Troubleshoot application and integration issues across multiple layers.
• Backend & Data Development: contribute to backend development using C#/.NET, support market data ingestion and data collection processes, work with SQL Server / Azure SQL databases, develop queries, views and stored procedures, support API-based data integrations, assist with data processing and performance issues.
