Job summary

Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board seeks an Energy Management Systems Specialist to operate, program and monitor building management systems. The role ensures compliant, safe and efficient energy use across facilities, under the supervision of Facilities Compliance and Asset Reliability.

The position emphasizes BAS programming, electronics understanding, and collaboration with a cross-functional team to improve reliability and performance in building systems.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma and post secondary HVAC and Building Automation Courses (equivalent to a two year trade certificate or two years college)
• Successful completion and certification as a Building Environmental Systems Operator, Level 1
• Previous exposure to HVAC, BAS programming and electronics.

Position Type / Hours:

Full-Time Permanent; Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 40 hours weekly; Anticipated start date of December 1, 2026

Annual Compensation:

$36.98 - $38.95 per hour

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Facilities Compliance and Asset Reliability, the Energy Management Systems will be responsible for the operation, programming and monitoring of Board Facilities Management Systems, in accordance with Board policies and procedures, relevant regulations and codes, and best practices in a safe and effective manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Secondary School Diploma and post secondary HVAC and Building Automation Courses (equivalent to a two year trade certificate or two years college)
• Successful completion and certification as a Building Environmental Systems Operator, Level 1
• Previous exposure to HVAC, BAS programming and electronics.
• Strong computer skills with experience working with CFMMS
• 3-5 years previous experience in an Energy Management role
• Proven experience with BAS programming, analog and digital signal processing, LAN and WAN communication techniques.
• Sound knowledge of HVAC schedules and system operation
• Experience with Johnson Controls, Metasys Building Automation systems is required.
• Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid Ontario Drivers Licence, Glass G with a clean abstract.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work co-operatively both independently and as a member of an interdepartmental team.
• Proven time management, scheduling and organizational skills.
