Job summary

Barney's Pub & Grill, located inside Best Western Wayside Inn in Wetaskiwin, is seeking a Server and Bartender to join our front-of-house team and delight guests.

As a Server at Barney's, you will greet guests, guide menus, and maintain a high-energy dining and lounge atmosphere, while upholding ProServe requirements and collaborating with FOH/BOH.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years serving in fast-paced settings.
• Experience with VLTs is an asset.
• ProServe, ReelFacts and ProTect certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Greet hotel guests and local regulars warmly, guiding them through food and beverage menus.
• Take accurate food and drink orders and efficiently serve Upscale pub classics, steaks, and handcrafted cocktails.
• Maintain a deep knowledge of our food/drink menus and daily specials.
• Cash VLT tickets from customers playing VLTs accurately and timely.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of tables, booths, lounge areas, and station setups.
• Handle POS transactions, cash management, and opening/closing side duties accurately.
• Provide attentive table maintenance, anticipating guest needs to ensure an exceptional dining and lounge experience.
• Adhere strictly to all provincial liquor laws and responsible beverage service guidelines (ProServe).

Located inside Wetaskiwin’s premier full-service hotel, Best Western Wayside Inn, Barney’s Pub & Grill is a local favourite known for its contemporary, warm pub atmosphere, upscale pub fare, local Alberta craft beers, and vibrant entertainment. We are looking for an energetic, personable, and experienced Server and Bartender to join our front-of-house team and help us spoil our guests!

Position Summary

As a Server at Barney's, you are the face of our vibrant lounge. You will deliver attentive, friendly service, guide guests through our exceptional food features and local drink lineups, and maintain a fun, high-energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet hotel guests and local regulars warmly, guiding them through food and beverage menus (including our monthly features, cocktail menus, and special menus).
• Take accurate food and drink orders and efficiently serve upscale pub classics, steaks, and handcrafted cocktails.
• Maintain a deep knowledge of our food/drink menus and daily specials.
• Cash VLT tickets from customers playing VLTs accurately and timely.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of tables, booths, lounge areas, and station setups.
• Handle POS transactions, cash management, and opening/closing side duties accurately.
• Provide attentive table maintenance, anticipating guest needs to ensure an exceptional dining and lounge experience.
• Adhere strictly to all provincial liquor laws and responsible beverage service guidelines (ProServe).

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of serving experience in a fast-paced restaurant, bar, or pub environment. Experience with VLTs is an asset.
• Certifications: Valid ProServe, ReelFacts, and ProTect certifications are required.
• Personality: Upbeat, outgoing, and professional. You genuinely enjoy interacting with people and thrive in a social, lively environment.
• Team Player: Willingness to support fellow FOH and BOH team members to ensure smooth operations.
• Flexibility: Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
