Job summary

Lakeridge Health Oshawa & Ajax-Pickering is seeking an Endoscopy SPD Aide to support the Surgical Program on a regular part-time basis. The role encompasses reprocessing, high-level disinfection and storage of all flexible endoscopes, following CSA and CSGNA guidelines.

You will monitor quality control tests, maintain the endoscope leasing program, and record equipment information. Cleaning and terminal cleanup of endoscopy equipment are performed at the end of each shift, with PPE required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized Central Service Techniques Course or CSAO course.
• Experience in CS/SPD with cleaning, inspecting, testing and processing flexible scopes.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures.
• Ability to learn quickly, be precise and decisive.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational, time-management and prioritization abilities.
• Ability to perform constant lifting, pushing, pulling and steering of carts; walking/standing ~90% of the shift.
• Knowledge of Meditech and inventory systems, preferred.
• Previous hospital setting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, an asset.
• Satisfactory performance record.

Responsibilities

• The SPD Endoscopy Technician is responsible for reprocessing; high level disinfection and storage of all flexible endoscopes.
• Follow CSA and CSGNA guidelines; monitor biological tests required for Quality Control.
• Maintain endoscope leasing program; monitor and record equipment information.
• Perform terminal cleaning of endoscopy equipment at the end of your shift.
• Other duties as assigned.
