Job Description: Endoscopy Nurse

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in this position.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team in the Ambulatory Care setting and specialty clinics such as Endoscopy, Urodynamics, Minor Surgical Plastics, and Cataract Sedation, the Endoscopy Nurse functions as an experienced, self-directed surgical care nurse. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
  • Post-basic education in Gastroenterology and Urodynamics.
  • Training in Endoscopy, Urodynamics, Minor Surgical Specialty clinics, Procedural Sedation.
  • Two (2) years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

Basic Life Support, Level C.
