Job summary

Sqwá First Nation is seeking a Graduation Coach / Liaison Facilitator to support Kindergarten through Grade 12 students, focusing on Grades 9-12 toward graduation. The role involves coordinating supports, advocating for students, and collaborating with school teams and the Sqwá Education Department.

The position reports to the Education Director, emphasizes trauma-informed and culturally respectful practices, and requires building strong relationships with youth and families in a school setting

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth and ability to connect with youth.
• Trauma-informed and culturally respectful practices.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and with families.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with school-based Graduation Coaches.
• Review student progress and determine pathways toward graduation for Grades 11-12.
• Identify students needing additional supports and coordinate resources.
• Meet with parents and school staff to discuss progress and next steps.
• Advocate for students and strengthen communication among youth, families, schools, and Sqwá First Nation.
• Collaborate with counsellors and learning support to identify struggling students.
• Work with Sqwá Education staff to determine available resources and supports.
