Job summary

Sqwá First Nation is seeking an Elders Coordinator to develop and deliver programs that promote wellness, cultural connection, and participation among Elders in the community.

Under the Director of Social Services, you will plan and coordinate activities, organize events and trips, manage records, and ensure safety and confidentiality while supporting Elders and community wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years in Social Services or community services are preferred.
• Proven experience coordinating community events and programs.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
• Basic computer proficiency for inventory tracking, record keeping, and reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
• Knowledge of Stó:lō culture, traditions, and language is a plus.
• Experience in a First Nations community is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver programs and activities for Elders.
• Organize events and luncheons for community Elders, including All Nation luncheons.
• Plan and coordinate overnight, weekend, and holiday trips for Elders, including logistics.
• Maintain detailed records of purchases, inventory, and distribution activities.
• Keep the Director of Social Services informed of changes and program requirements.
• Ensure programs and activities are organized and delivered safely and effectively.
• Attend Elders Committee meetings and provide support.
• Support additional wellness initiatives focused on Elders.
• Travel as required to support programs and activities.
