Fogler, Rubinoff LLP is seeking an Employment and Labour Associate (3–5 years) to join our growing team. This role offers the chance to manage own files independently while collaborating with seasoned practitioners on larger matters.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, close-knit firm committed to excellence in employment law. The ideal candidate will draft employment contracts, workplace policies, pleadings, and briefs, and provide practical day-to-day advice.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years post-call in employment & labour law.
  • Ability to draft contracts, policies, pleadings, briefs, and other employment-related documents.
  • Independent carriage of small claims and simplified procedure matters.

Responsibilities

  • Carry own files independently while collaborating with experienced practitioners on larger matters.
  • Provide practical, timely employment advice and HR-related training.
  • Support senior associates and partners on wrongful dismissal actions, grievances, and human rights applications.
  • Draft HR policies and advise on HR-related issues.
  • Assist on corporate transactions and Ministry of Labour matters as needed.

Employment and Labour Associate (3-5 Years)

Fogler, Rubinoff LLP is looking to hire a mid-level Associate (3-5 years post-call) to join our growing employment and labour team.

This is a tremendous opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to carry their own files independently while also working alongside the firm’s experienced practitioners on larger matters. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, tight-knit team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following abilities and skills:

  • Excellence in drafting employment contracts, workplace policies, pleadings, litigation briefs, memoranda, and correspondence relating to employment matters;
  • Providing practical, timely, and sound day-to-day employment advice;
  • Ability to take sole carriage of small claims and simplified procedure litigation matters;
  • Providing timely support to senior associates and partners on larger wrongful dismissal actions, grievance arbitrations, and human rights applications;
  • Ability to take carriage of plaintiff/employee side employment files (drafting demand letters, negotiating settlements, attending mediations, managing wrongful dismissal claims, human rights applications and Ministry of Labour complaints);
  • Drafting HR policies and providing HR training;
  • Experience with Human Rights Applications;
  • Experience with WSIB-related matters is an asset but not required;
  • Experience with wrongful competition matters is an asset, but not required;
  • Experience with Applications before the Labour Relations Board is an asset, but not required;
  • Experience providing advice on corporate transactions is an asset, but not required; and
  • Providing general day-to-day support to the employment and labour group as needed.
