Job summary

TAG HR is seeking an experienced Employment Associate Lawyer in Ottawa, ON. This hybrid opportunity offers competitive compensation between $125,000 to $165,000 along with bonus potential and benefits. The successful candidate will provide legal advice on a variety of employment matters, work with a collaborative team, and manage client relationships.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience in Employment Law and is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Strong skills in drafting, advocacy, and negotiation are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of post‑call experience in Employment Law.
  • Experience in private practice or relevant in‑house counsel environment.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario employment legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on employment matters including workplace investigations.
  • Draft and review employment agreements and policies.
  • Represent clients before courts and tribunals.

Employment Associate Lawyer

Compensation: $125,000 – $165,000 + Bonus Potential + Benefits

Our client, a well‑established and highly regarded Ottawa law firm, is seeking an experienced Employment Associate Lawyer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated lawyer who is passionate about employment and labour law and looking to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client‑focused environment.

The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced legal team advising employers and employees on a broad range of workplace matters, litigation, and advisory work across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on employment and workplace matters including:
    • Employment standards
    • Human rights
    • Occupational health & safety
    • Wrongful dismissal
    • Workplace investigations and policies
  • Draft and review:
    • Employment agreements
    • Workplace policies
    • Termination packages
    • Restrictive covenant agreements
  • Represent clients before:
    • Courts and tribunals
    • Labour boards
    • Human rights tribunals
    • Arbitration proceedings
  • Collaborate with litigation and corporate law teams on employment‑related matters
  • Manage files independently while maintaining strong client relationships
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and ongoing client growth
Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of post‑call experience in Employment Law
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Experience gained in private practice or relevant in‑house counsel environment
  • Strong understanding of Ontario employment legislation and workplace law
  • Experience handling employment litigation and advisory matters
  • Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple files in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Existing client base or business development experience considered an asset
