Job summary

Durham College is seeking an Employee Relations Advisor for a temporary position in Oshawa. Band 9 with a salary range of 79,101 to 98,878 CAD, from December 2026 to June 2028.

You will support administration, research and analysis of complex employee and labour relations matters in a multi-union environment. This role reports to the Director, Human Resources and collaborates with HR leadership, college leaders and union representatives to ensure consistent application of policies and

Qualifications

• Three-year diploma in human resources or related discipline; CHRP designation or equivalent is an asset.
• At least three years of related HR experience in employee and labour relations.
• Experience interpreting collective agreements and employment legislation.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to create processes and systems.
• Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
• Experience in post-secondary education is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Review and organize case information, correspondence, meeting notes and supporting documentation for meetings, grievances, investigations and arbitrations.
• Conduct research related to collective agreements, employment legislation, arbitration decisions, case law and college policies; summarize findings.
• Support administration of grievances, complaints and investigations; take minutes and maintain files.
• Maintain organized labour relations case information and tracking for history and trends.
• Interpret and support application of collective agreements and relevant policies and processes.
• Assist with grievance responses, briefing materials and reports for HR leadership.
