Job summary

Ogilvie Law in Edmonton is seeking an early-career legal assistant with at least one year of legal experience to join our litigation team. The role focuses on bankruptcy, insolvency, and commercial litigation, supporting a partner and collaborating with associates and paralegals.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a high-pressure environment. Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited legal assistant or paralegal program, or equivalent practical experience.
Direct litigation experience is an asset; strong eagerness to learn is encouraged.
Minimum of 1 year of legal experience in a fast-paced practice.

Responsibilities

Open, draft, maintain and prepare a variety of legal documents including briefs, factums, court documents and insolvency applications and related materials
Prepare detailed notices, reports, and packages for all necessary parties, entering complete file progress on applicable systems, including filing material with the courts
Prepare pre-trial and trial documents including maintenance of all trial binders and limitation tracking
Coordinate and schedule applications, questionings, and meetings, and maintain calendars
Preparation of accounts and time entry
General administrative tasks including data entry, photocopying, and scanning, and file management
Respond to daily inquiries from lawyers, legal assistants, and clients
Other duties as assigned
