Job summary

Fairfield Animal Hospital in Kelowna, BC, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our 24/7 emergency hospital. The RVT will work alongside emergency DVMs in a high-volume setting, triaging, diagnosing, and treating cases across all hours.

Roles include radiography, anesthesia monitoring, and client communication. Full-time and part-time positions are available, with shifts that cover evenings, weekends, and rotating overnights.

Qualifications

• Registration as a Veterinary Technologist.
• Experience in emergency and critical care for small animals is preferred.
• Commitment to professional registration and continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery.
• Partner with the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery.
• Prepare and administer medications.
• Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency patients.
• Perform ongoing triage assessment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Produce diagnostic radiographs and CT scans, collect samples, and perform laboratory tests.
• Provide wound care and assist in procedures.
• Counsel clients on animal health care.
• Mentor practicum students and team members.
