Job summary

North York General Hospital in Toronto is seeking a Registered Nurse, Emergency to provide patient- and family-centered care within a fast-paced ED. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, prioritize assessment, education and safety, and support the hospital’s mission through teaching and evidence‑based practice.

We offer 12-hour shifts, days and nights, including weekends, with a competitive total compensation package, benefits, pension and vacation.

Qualifications

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS).
• 2 years Emergency, Critical Care or Telemetry nursing experience, or 3 years Medical and Surgical nursing experience, preferred.
• I.V. initiation, Phlebotomy and Electrocardiogram interpretation skills, preferred.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with patients/clients, families and other members of the health care team.

• Assume a leadership/charge role with self-motivation regarding continuing education in areas of patient assessment and related clinical specialties.

• Demonstrate the ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations.
