Job summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Program-Based Float Pool in Emergency. The position supports staffing across designated units and sites, with a home program and potential cross-site assignments including Milton District Hospital and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

The role emphasizes safe, patient-centred care, collaboration with the health team, and flexibility to adapt to varying shifts and unit needs. Employment is temporary full-time for approximately six months.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support certification required at time of hire.
• ACLS certification preferred at time of hire or within 6 months.
• Recent clinical experience in Emergency Department.
• Ability to work across multiple units/sites and manage changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, competent, patient- and family-centred nursing care within the assigned program.
• May work across designated units/sites within the program based on needs.
• Support staffing needs related to vacancies, sick calls, leaves, and onboarding.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Administer medications and treatments per hospital policies and standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied staff to ensure quality care and outcomes.
• Support patient flow, discharge planning, and education of patients/families.
• Maintain documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and accountability.
