Job summary

ATCO Gas & Pipelines in Edmonton, AB is seeking an Emergency Communications Representative for an approximate 18-month term. You will work with field personnel, emergency services, and internal departments to provide critical support during emergencies and routine activities, using multiple systems and sound judgment.

The role requires professionalism under pressure, multitasking, safety focus, and customer‑oriented service, with training opportunities and potential future roles within ATCO.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• Emergency Response Communication Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution OR a minimum of 2 years’ experience in emergency communications.
• Strong computer skills; using multiple monitors and systems simultaneously is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Maximo, OFS, and mapping software (ARC FM) would be an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret maps and coordinates.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, 24/7 rotating shift environment and multi-task under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Receive, analyze, and prioritize emergency requests through multiple channels and deploy resources in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Review, assign, and/or complete requests from internal departments.
• Provide callers with pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions.
• Direct the deployment of resources to ensure efficient operations.
• Provide accurate communications, liaison services, and interdepartmental coordination.
• Record and transmit information accurately across multiple channels.
