Job summary

Medacom Atlantic seeks Communication Officers for Charlottetown base to handle 911 and EMS dispatch with a 10-week paid training program. You will develop high-skills in emergency communications and prioritize patient safety with Priority Dispatch systems.

Successful candidates complete mandatory courses, including EMD and CPR, and must pass aptitude tests and English-language requirements. Workdays include shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma (or equivalent) and communications education are assets.
• Experience in a similar environment is an asset; emergency medical training is helpful.
• Now starting the EMD course and maintaining certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Answering and handling 911 calls per SOPs.
• Provide Emergency Medical Dispatch instructions (CPR, childbirth, etc.).
• Coordinate ambulance transfers and non-emergency dispatches.
• Maintain daily reporting and coordinate handoffs and delays.
• Build relationships with Shift Captains and Teams.
