We are hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to expand our reach in industries like Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Telco, as well as Consumer Electronics. Ideal candidates are accomplished Linux professionals, passionate about Linux internals, proficient with containerization, system debugging, and embedded software development. This role involves working with Ubuntu Core, our IoT edition, which emphasizes security and resilience for high-end appliances and equipment, and includes working towards certifications for our Linux offerings.

This role requires a blend of skills: strong Linux knowledge, coding and scripting proficiency, experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, embedded development, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude. As a field engineer, you will handle diverse customer inquiries and ensure solutions meet high standards of quality and support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology.
  • Proposing solutions to prospective clients.
  • Participating in the delivery of Embedded Linux projects.
  • Communicating market requirements internally and contributing to solution development.
  • Serving as a customer advocate and trusted advisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Extensive Linux experience, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Experience with distribution and packaging (deb, rpm).
  • Embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot).
  • Proficiency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Professional fluency in English and local language (if applicable).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented with multi-tasking ability.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings and events.

Additional skills that are a plus:

  • Experience with customer engagements.
