Job summary

Miovision in Kitchener is seeking a Firmware Developer to build the low-level hardware abstraction layers (BSP) and on-device software stacks powering Core, Scout and Opticom products.

You will navigate multi-board, multi-processor hardware, work on kernel builds, drivers and rigorous hardware validation in a hybrid role at our Kitchener headquarters, merging into a Linux environment that drives future mobility tech.

Qualifications

• Solid embedded and firmware design experience.
• Strong programming chops in C/C++ and Python.
• Familiar with embedded systems at board/IC level and oscilloscope troubleshooting.
• Experience with UART, I2C, SPI, USB, and Ethernet.
• Love Linux environments and tooling like tcpdump/netcat; exposure to Yocto/Buildroot/RTOS.

Responsibilities

• Core Development: develop embedded Linux software in Python and firmware in C/C++, from concept to completion.
• Hardware Bring-Up: collaborate with Electrical Engineering during bring-up and debug of custom hardware.
• Complex Troubleshooting: diagnose and fix hardware issues in manufacturing and field environments.
• Rigorous Validation: ensure high quality via manual and automated testing across hardware interfaces.
• Cross-Functional Integration: work with Device Software to enable full hardware-software integration.
• Code Craftsmanship: participate in peer reviews to maintain scalable, maintainable firmware.
