POSITION: Elementary Teacher – Native Languages

JOB CODE: TCH2425-82

LOCATION: St. Basil Catholic School, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

START DATE: Immediately

ANNUALIZED SALARY: $51,679 – 117,020

The Board is seeking an occasional teacher who is a strong communicator, has excellent interpersonal skills, and is a team player. First consideration will be given to OCT-qualified teachers, but applications from non-certified teachers are also accepted.

The Board values confidence and proficiency in Anishinaabemowin at various levels and encourages applications from candidates with this knowledge who are passionate about sharing it with students. Preference will be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous.

Qualifications
  1. Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and Anishinaabemowin
  2. [OCT Candidates] Primary, Junior & Intermediate Divisions
  3. [OCT Candidates] Native Languages, Part 1
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Preference for candidates who identify as Indigenous, Métis, or Inuit (must self-identify in the application)
  2. [OCT Candidates]: Native Languages, Specialist; Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Specialist; Special Education, Part 1
  3. [Non-Certified Teacher Candidates] Prior teaching or training experience in a classroom setting
  4. [Non-Certified Teacher Candidates] Bachelor's degree and/or pursuing BEd
