Job summary

Wasauksing First Nation is seeking a Classroom Teacher to provide an educational, supportive, and holistic atmosphere where students can grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, and spiritually within Ontario curriculum guidelines and Wasauksing First Nation values.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, development of IEPs, and engaging students from diverse backgrounds, including embedding Ojibway language and culture into lessons.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent required.
  • Ability to speak, read and understand Anishnaabemowin is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Model professional and ethical standards as per OCT when dealing with students, parents, peers and community.
  • Attend professional meetings, conferences and trainings to maintain growth.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips and experiential activities.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, and health.
  • Establish clear lesson objectives and communicate them to students.
  • Prepare, administer and grade tests and assignments.
  • Develop IEPs and participate in IPRC processes.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records and reports as required.
