Job summary

The Halton Catholic District School Board is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Principal or Vice Principal in Burlington. Basic Qualifications
  1. Five (5) years of successful teaching experience
  2. Teaching experience in two (2) divisions and/or specialized areas within the school system
  3. Certificate of Qualification and Registration in good standing from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  4. Master of Education or equivalent (preferred)
  5. Special Education Part 1 (preferred)
  6. Addressing Anti-Black Racism to Change Pedagogy and Practice Part 1 or equivalent (preferred)
  7. Completed Principals qualifications according to Regulation 298: Section 9 (Principals Certificate Part I and Part II or equivalent) prior to beginning the assignment
  8. Completed O.C.S.T.A. / O.E.C.T.A. Religious Education course Part 2, with a commitment to complete a Specialist or an equivalent (e.g., Master of Religious Education)
  9. Completed Modules I & II of the Board's current Catholic Leadership Program or equivalent
  10. Committed to or completed the Board's Equity and Inclusion Training Part 1 (or equivalent), with a commitment to complete Part 2 within the first year of appointment
  11. Recommendation from the current supervising Superintendent of Education
Other Qualifying Experience
  1. Strong commitment to the concept of Catholic School Community
  2. Additional academic and professional qualifications beyond the basic requirements
  3. Experience as Assistant to Principal / Acting Principal / Vice Principal / Consultant
  4. Experience in identifying and addressing systemic barriers to equitable educational outcomes
  5. Experience creating safe, inclusive, equitable learning environments free from discrimination
  6. Demonstrated servant leadership management style
  7. Involvement in Special Education programs, curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation
  8. Ongoing professional learning participation
  9. Positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, parents, and the school community
Documentation Required
  1. Updated resume and cover letter
  2. OCT Certificate of Qualification
  3. Proof of completion of Catholic Leadership Program (certificate or equivalent)
  4. Proof of completion of Equity and Inclusion Training (certificate or equivalent)
  5. Completed Leadership Candidate Profile for Principals and Vice Principals, including signatures from current Supervisor and Superintendent
  6. Pastoral Reference for a Leadership Position in Catholic Education (dated within the last twelve months)
  7. Two professional reference letters
