Job description

At Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta (JA), we believe in the potential of young people. Through hands‑on learning in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship, we help students build the skills and confidence they need for their futures.

We’re looking for a highly organized, people-focused Elementary Program Coordinator to help make those experiences happen for thousands of students across our region.

If you’re someone who loves bringing all the moving pieces together — coordinating schedules, working with schools, preparing volunteers and making sure everyone has what they need to be successful — this could be a great role for you.

About the Role

As the JA Elementary School Coordinator, you’ll coordinate JA’s elementary programs for students in Grades 3–6, working closely with teachers, schools and volunteers to ensure programs are scheduled, staffed, supported and ready to go. A big part of the role is working with our volunteers. You’ll help onboard and prepare volunteers to step confidently into classrooms by providing program training, tools, resources and ongoing support.

You’ll spend some time in classrooms delivering JA programs yourself, but direct classroom facilitation is a smaller part of the role. Most of your time will be focused on making sure programs and volunteers are set up for success.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate Elementary Programs
  • Coordinate program schedules, logistics, materials and resources across participating schools.
  • Work with teachers and school contacts to organize program delivery and ensure everyone has the information they need.
  • Coordinate volunteers with program opportunities and keep communications moving between schools, volunteers and the JA team.
  • Keep multiple programs and timelines organized during our busy delivery periods.
  • Troubleshoot the inevitable last-minute changes and help keep things running smoothly.
  • Recruit, onboard and prepare volunteers to deliver JA programs in elementary classrooms.
  • Lead volunteer program training sessions, helping volunteers understand the program content, materials and how to create a great classroom experience.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, resources and support before and during program delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers and help make their JA experience a positive one.
Build Strong School Relationships
  • Develop positive working relationships with teachers, school administrators and other school contacts.
  • Respond to questions, coordinate details and help schools have a seamless JA experience.
  • Identify opportunities to bring JA programs to more students and schools.
Deliver JA Programs
  • Step in to support program delivery when needed and stay connected to the classroom experience so you can effectively train and support volunteers.
Keep Us Organized
  • Maintain accurate program, volunteer and participation records.
  • Track program activity and feedback.
  • Support program reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement.

Inspire. Empower. Connect.

About You

You’re organized, dependable and good with people. You enjoy coordinating details and keeping things moving, but you’re also comfortable standing in front of a group and leading a training session.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience coordinating programs, events, volunteers, education programs or other people-focused initiatives.
  • Are highly organized and comfortable managing multiple schedules, deadlines and priorities at the same time.
  • Are a confident and engaging communicator who is comfortable training and presenting to groups of adults.
  • Enjoy working with volunteers and helping people feel prepared and successful.
  • Build relationships easily with teachers, volunteers and community partners.
  • Are comfortable working with elementary‑aged students.
  • Are tech‑savvy and comfortable using Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom and databases; Salesforce experience is an asset.
  • Have reliable transportation to travel within the Greater Edmonton Area.
Why You’ll Love Working Here

At JA Northern Alberta, the work you coordinate directly helps young people build skills and discover what’s possible.

You’ll also enjoy:

  • Meaningful work: Help create great learning experiences for thousands of young people.
  • Great people: Work with teachers, volunteers, business leaders and a team that cares deeply about JA’s mission.
  • Variety: Your days will include a mix of planning, volunteer training, school coordination, office work and classroom and school visits.
  • Professional growth: Access professional development opportunities and a professional development budget.
  • Benefits: Health Spending Account, life insurance and RRSP matching.
  • Time to recharge: Paid December break and a compressed 35-hour work week.

Base Salary: $45,000-$50,000 per year, depending on experience.

There is seasonal variation of hours and workload related to program delivery requirements. Working evenings and some weekends will be required.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.
