Job summary

The Electronics Technologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, ON, will perform preventative maintenance, repair, testing, and troubleshooting of radiation therapy equipment within the Medical Physics Department of OCC. Responsibilities include morning start-up, fault analysis, maintaining service records, and repairing electronic systems, with in-house and vendor training provided.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology.
• Experience with radiation-emitting equipment, high voltage, vacuum, microwave, electronic and computer control systems or motion control.
• Service experience on linear accelerators is preferred.
• Ability to repair systems to the component level using schematics, multi-meter and oscilloscope.
• Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to take apart and reassemble components using small hand tools.
• Data and computer software skills including electronic logging of machine issues and searching resources and databases for solutions.
• Ability to work safely and to promote safe working environments and practices.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and testing of radiation therapy equipment.
• Include preventive maintenance, morning equipment start-up, evaluating and correcting equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate service records and a parts inventory.
• Repair electrical and electronic equipment, design and construct specialized electronic equipment.
• Evaluate machine performance data and participate in in-house and vendor training on linear accelerators.
