Reporting to the Electronics Manager and under the direction of the Lead Electronics Technician, the Electronics Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment. This role provides technical support to the Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operations, and Technical Services departments. This position is considered a safety-sensitive role.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment according to the scheduled maintenance program. Ensure equipment is field-ready promptly and safely. Support Operations to keep equipment operational.
- Provide feedback to Manufacturing, Design, Parts, and Maintenance regarding maintenance activities, system failures, part defects, human errors, safety hazards, and process improvements.
- Repair and maintain low-voltage electronic and power distribution systems on various equipment, including trucks, trailers, and infrastructure.
- Assist in new product development, commissioning, and ongoing improvements to existing designs. Analyze operational issues and recommend solutions to enhance reliability and durability.
- Follow all safety standards and protocols, including wearing PPE at all times.
- Identify hazards, document them, and propose solutions to create a safer workplace.
- Maintain all required certifications, including safety tickets, driver’s license, H2S certificate, and First Aid Level-C.
- Participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
- Engage in training and professional development activities.
- Travel to various locations for repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications - Required
- Physically capable of lifting objects up to 23 kg, and able to bend, stand, and climb repeatedly for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Willing to travel frequently, work overtime, overnight, and on weekends.
- Legally authorized to work in the role's country.
Qualifications - Preferred
- Enrolled in or completed a related post-secondary program (Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrician trade) with relevant experience.
- Experience in an industrial environment with mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical systems, including programmable logic controllers, HMI screens, and related components.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Experience with electrical integration in motor vehicles.
- Knowledge of relevant standards.
Additional Assets
- Experience with oilfield equipment maintenance and industrial electronics.
- PLC and HMI programming and design experience.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems.
- Experience with motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and diesel engines.
- Valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license (Canada) / Class A CDL (U.S.).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Dependable and adaptable to changing priorities.
