Job description

Reporting to the Grading Superintendent, a Grading Foreman is responsible for supervising the crew and equipment to complete civil construction grading projects. The Foreman must present a professional image and attitude in all dealings with clients, the public, and workers, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and responsibly.

This is a seasonal position based in Grande Prairie. We are seeking candidates who can commit to the full construction season. Accommodations are provided, along with a company vehicle or the option to use your own through our vehicle hire program. This is a great opportunity to get involved and earn competitive pay.

How You’ll Add Value

  1. Contribute to a safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  2. Manage daily operations of the job site, overseeing laborers and operators, ensuring tasks meet production, safety, and quality standards.
  3. Plan work two to three days in advance, coordinating schedules and meeting project milestones.
  4. Mentor and train operators and laborers, fostering continuous improvement.
  5. Collaborate with the site superintendent, project managers, and clients for smooth project execution.
  6. Use your GPS machine control knowledge to optimize operations.
  7. Ensure employees meet training standards, address skill gaps, and provide performance feedback.
  8. Inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment, reporting issues promptly.
  9. Verify material deliveries, manage inventory, and report discrepancies.
  10. Maintain accurate project records, including material quantities, personnel hours, and equipment usage.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Qualifications & Experience
  1. 3+ years of experience as a foreman in heavy civil construction.
  2. Experience operating equipment is an asset.
  3. Strong knowledge of industry standards and compliance.
  4. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions.
