Job summary

COTECH Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure reliability, availability, and performance of production equipment on the factory floor.

You will perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance while supporting automation initiatives and new equipment implementations. The role requires strong hands-on capabilities across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems, and you will serve as a technical resource for supervisors and operators.

Qualifications

  • Vocational diploma in automated systems electromechanics or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance records and programs up to date.
  • Carry out periodic equipment inspections.
  • Check oil levels, lubricants, filters, and other routine maintenance components.
  • Recommend actions required to prevent equipment failures.
  • Review alerts and information available through operator interfaces.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Identify the root causes of recurring breakdowns.
  • Perform required repairs or coordinate them when necessary.
  • Ensure a fast and safe return to production.
  • Replace or refurbish defective parts and components.
  • Repair or replace motors, sensors, drives, harnesses, wiring, and pneumatic or hydraulic components.
  • Perform required mechanical adjustments.
  • Participate in the modification and improvement of existing equipment.
  • Participate in robotics and automation projects.
  • Support the implementation of new equipment.
  • Perform functional testing and validation.
  • Contribute to optimizing equipment performance.
  • Strictly apply lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Comply with applicable occupational health and safety standards.
  • Ensure equipment compliance and safe operation.
  • Report any situation that may present a risk to people or facilities.
  • Advise supervisors, team leaders, and operators.
  • Participate in resolving complex technical issues.
  • Support operator training on proper equipment use and best practices.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added as the technology base and internal needs evolve.

Job description

State-of-the-art manufacturing environment – Bas-Saint-Laurent

The person in this role is responsible for the reliability, availability, and performance of Cotech's production equipment. They carry out preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities while actively contributing to continuous improvement, automation, and new equipment implementation projects.


This role requires a strong presence on the production floor and combines electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated system interventions. The person also acts as a technical resource for supervisors, team leaders, and operators.


Your role

Preventive maintenance


  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment;

  • Maintain maintenance records and programs up to date;

  • Carry out periodic equipment inspections;

  • Check oil levels, lubricants, filters, and other routine maintenance components;

  • Recommend actions required to prevent equipment failures.


Diagnostics and troubleshooting


  • Review alerts and information available through operator interfaces;

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues;

  • Identify the root causes of recurring breakdowns;

  • Perform required repairs or coordinate them when necessary;

  • Ensure a fast and safe return to production.


Equipment repair and improvement


  • Replace or refurbish defective parts and components;

  • Repair or replace motors, sensors, drives, harnesses, wiring, and pneumatic or hydraulic components;

  • Perform required mechanical adjustments;

Automation and robotics projects


  • Participate in robotics and automation projects;

  • Support the implementation of new equipment;

  • Perform functional testing and validation;

  • Contribute to optimizing equipment performance.


Health and safety


  • Strictly apply lockout/tagout procedures;

  • Comply with applicable occupational health and safety standards;

  • Ensure equipment compliance and safe operation;

  • Report any situation that may present a risk to people or facilities.


Technical support

  • Participate in resolving complex technical issues;

  • Support operator training on proper equipment use and best practices.
