Job summary

Qualtech seeks an Electrical Designer to join our Automation team in Quebec. You will work on automation projects, diagnose issues, and implement corrective solutions at client sites across Canada and the USA. A strong focus on PLC programming and system optimization guides daily activities.

We value 2+ years in a related field, fluency in French with intermediate English, and the ability to travel up to 50%. DEC/DEP in the domain is required; experience in agri-food is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a related field.
• Strong PLC programming knowledge: Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, Omron.
• Valid Class 5 licence and ability to travel up to 50% in Canada/USA.
• French proficiency with intermediate English for cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Understand client needs and propose corrective solutions for interventions.
• Perform diagnostics for customers and implement changes.
• Assist in implementing corrective solutions and help clients resume activity.
• Adjust PLCs and electronic devices of automated systems at client sites.
• Be available for emergency calls outside regular hours (~15% of time).
• Plan and carry out programming of PLCs and operator interfaces.
• Monitor PLC & HMI programming models as configured by clients and Qualtech.

Under the supervision of the Director of Automation, the main mandate of the Automation Service Technician is to support the customer service of the automation and control department at Qualtech Solutions. His role includes supporting customer inquiries and responding to emergency calls.

Your mission

• Understand the client’s needs and understand their processes, propose corrective solutions in order to plan interventions;
• Perform diagnostics for customers and make changes accordingly;
• Participate in the implementation of the corrective solution and then assist the client in resuming its activity;
• Adjust the various instruments and electronic devices of automated systems at customer locations;
• Be available to respond to emergency calls outside regular working hours (about 15% of the time, determined in advance);
• Plan and carry out the programming of programmable logic controllers and operator interfaces;
• Monitoring of PLC & HMI programming models established by clients and by Qualtech.

Profile

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar or related field;
• Strong knowledge in programmable logic controller programming: Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens, Omron and all types of industrial control controllers;
• Valid class 5 licence and ability to travel up to 50% of the time (Canada and USA);
• Good knowledge of French and a minimum intermediate level of English to communicate with the various internal teams outside Quebec and with various clients as needed;
• Experience in the agri-food industry (an asset);
• DEC or DEP directly linked to the domain;
• All other related training combined with the number of years of experience related to the position will be considered.
