Job summary

SMS Equipment is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician to provide field electrical support for one of the largest mobile mining equipment fleets. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems on haul trucks, shovels, and related mining machines in demanding outdoor environments.

You must hold a Journeyperson Electrician certificate (Red Seal preferred) and demonstrate strong problem-solving, reading of OEM drawings, and commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Electrician certification and safe-work practices required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and OEM drawings and electrical code specifications.
• Red Seal certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical systems on heavy mining equipment in the field.
• Support customers and tradespeople in resolving equipment and component-related issues.
• Perform electrical repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance on haul trucks, shovels, and other mining equipment.
• Install new parts and equipment in accordance with industry standards and site-specific best practices.
• Complete equipment assembly, repair, and component replacement activities.
• Conduct component failure analysis to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Interpret and apply technical documentation to support repairs and installations.
• Contribute to safe, efficient maintenance practices while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

What You Bring

You bring Journeyperson Electrician certification and a strong commitment to safe work practices. You are confident diagnosing electrical issues, applying technical knowledge in the field, and delivering reliable solutions in a fast-paced mining environment.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and OEM drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts
• Highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

• Red Seal certification.
• Experience working with Komatsu heavy equipment, including haul trucks, shovels, dozers, and related mining equipment.
