Job summary

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. is seeking Electrician Apprentices and Journeypersons for our Fort Saskatchewan, AB projects. You will read blueprints, lay out circuits, install panels, and ensure safe electrical operations on industrial sites.

Position includes a 5x2 schedule with 4-10s, 6am start. Pay is $52.00 per hour with overtime per the collective agreement. Candidates may need pre‑employment screening; English fluency is required.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Provincial Journeyperson Ticket or be indentured in a Provincial apprenticeship program.
  • CSTS-20 Certificate is required.
  • Fall Protection training completed.
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform training completed.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate control panels and perform wiring check‑outs.
  • Install cable tray, conduit, equipment, panels, sensors and devices.
  • Lay out circuits, set up breaker panels and junction boxes.
  • Install lighting fixtures and electrical distribution equipment.
  • Test circuits for continuity and safety; perform necessary repairs.
  • Mentor apprentices and supervise safety on site.

Position Overview

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever‑expanding project portfolios. We are focused on hiring only those exceptional individuals who value safety in the workplace and remain committed to the collective goal of maintaining our Aecon ‘zero injury’ culture. ACSI is seeking Electrician Apprentice & Journeypersons who will be integral to our project’s success, responsible for providing support and in-depth knowledge in the field relating to electrical matters, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications to lay out work. Your expertise will support a range of activities which are critical to integrity of the electrical systems of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate control panels, wiring check‑out.
  • In stalling cable tray and conduit and terminating cable. Locating and installing equipment, panels, sensors and other control components and devices
  • Responsible for laying out circuits, set up breaker panels and junction boxes, and install light fixtures and other electrical equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical installations follow applicable regulations and trade practices.
  • Install, alter, repair and maintain a wide range of electrical equipment for safe, efficient and environmentally sound operation.
  • Pull wire through conduits and cables through tray systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
  • Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
  • Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
  • Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, and if need be, replacing or repair following proper installation guidelines.
  • Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.
Requirements And Experience
  • Valid Provincial Journeyperson Ticket or indentured in a Provincial apprenticeship program.
  • CSTS-20 Certificate
  • Fall Protection – In Class
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform – In Class
  • Experience as an Electrician in an industrial construction environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
