Job summary

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is seeking a skilled Formwork Carpenter for the DOW FSP2Z project in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The candidate will interpret drawings, construct formwork, and install concrete supports while maintaining Aecon’s safety standard.

Ideal applicants have CSTS-20, Fall Protection, and Confined Space Entry monitoring, with the ability to work independently or in a team. Bring strong on-site carpentry skills and commitment to safe, efficient project execution.

Qualifications

  • CSTS-20 certification, fall protection, and confined space entry monitoring required.
  • Experience as a formwork carpenter in industrial construction preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings, specifications and apply project information.
  • Undertake layout: select materials, plan sequences and measure materials.
  • Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls and beams.
  • Cut, shape and join materials with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
  • Check units for level, square, plumb and correct size and location.
  • Perform general carpentry tasks such as framing and hoarding.
  • Mentor apprentices and oversee safety on site.

Position Overview

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever-expanding project portfolios. Key Responsibilities
  • Interpreting and applying information found in drawings, specifications
  • Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials).
  • Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts.
  • Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
  • Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location.
  • General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned.
  • Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.
Requirements And Experience

  • Experience as a Formwork Carpenter in an industrial construction environment
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Project: DOW FSP2Z
Location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
Rate: $29.63 to $49.38 per hour
Overtime: as per collective agreement
Schedule: 5x2, 6am start 10 hours/day.
Camp: N/A
Allowances: N/A
