Job Purpose

Responsible for tasks related to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure, including installing electrical wiring, troubleshooting malfunctions, and repairing equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Modify, maintain, or repair electrical, electronic, or mechanical components, equipment, or systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Install or program computer hardware or machine or instrumentation software in microprocessor-based systems.
  • Consult with mechanics to ensure electromechanical equipment or systems meet design specifications.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of high-speed production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing and production equipment to minimize downtime and optimize quality and efficiency.
  • Carry out PLC troubleshooting and programming changes as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and complete work orders according to PM schedules.
  • Assist with equipment installations and modifications.
  • Work safely, following all safety procedures and ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.
  • Report issues immediately to maintenance planning.
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment, adhering to health and safety practices and PPE use.
  • Follow food safety and GMP requirements during maintenance tasks.
  • Advise management on potential hazards of equipment operation.
  • Test electrical systems and circuits for safety and compatibility.
  • Plan electrical layout and installation based on specifications and codes.
  • Follow blueprints and sketches for wiring and equipment placement.
  • Install conduit and pull wires to complete circuits.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs for installation and repair tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and install electrical and automation systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with electrical tools and reading blueprints.
  • Enrolled in or pursuing an electrician certification (Ontario Electrical License 309A or 442 is an asset).
  • Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and safety standards.
  • Strong safety and legal compliance knowledge.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Potential exposure to hot temperatures near ovens.
  • Close proximity to coworkers.
  • Compliance with ventilation, cleanliness, lighting, and temperature standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Repetitive movements.
  • Use of safety equipment such as gloves, steel-toed shoes, and hair / beard nets.
  • Bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
