Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Canada is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to support electrical installation, wiring, and control systems for powertrain equipment. The role requires strong knowledge of PLC logic, wiring practices, and adherence to safety standards.

Applicants should have a licensed electrician credential with at least 5 years in the automotive sector, and excellent communication in English.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Electrician or have an equivalent electrical engineering certificate.
• Completion of an industrial electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry as an industrial electrician.
• Knowledge of relay, PC and PLC logic circuits.
• Familiar with Canadian Electrical Code and OHSA policies; able to work with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Safely install and repair equipment.
• Install, inspect, replace, and repair wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other components.
• Test electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Inform Maintenance Manager about circuit changes and diagram updates.
• Wire new control panels per drawings and applicable standards.
• Share knowledge with maintenance staff to enable effective problem solving and high-quality repairs.
• Adhere to standards, maintain quality workmanship, conduct preventative maintenance and keep records.
• Pursue continuous improvement of machinery and equipment to meet schedule.
• Use PLC programming devices and software to modify/read logic programs.
• Communicate issues to Production Supervisor and follow safety policies.
• Perform other duties as directed by management.

• Good communications skills and must be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English.

Annual Compensation Range: $37.00- $42.72 / hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safe Installation and repair of equipment

• Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.

• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.

• Inform the Maintenance Manager about changes in electrical circuits and updates to the original diagrams

• Wire new control panels according to drawings and verbal instructions under consideration of Hydro codes and other applicable standards and regulations.

• Pass on information, experience and knowledge to other maintenance employee, to ensure effective, non-repetitious problem solving and machine repairs.

• Work in a cost-effective manner and maintains a high standard of quality and excellent workmanship.

• Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.

• Must have continuous improvements on machinery and equipment. Meet schedule set by maintenance Manager.

• Use different PLC programming devices including software to modify and read logic control programs. Perform other assignments from time to time as managements so directs.
